Let It Snow Review

Over the holidays I read Let It Snow by John Green, Lauren Myracle and Maureen Johnson the book is 3 festive styled stories that are linked together. The first story is called The Jubilee Express it is about a girl who has the unfortunate name of Jubilee she is named that because her parents are obsessed with these ornaments called Flobie and they are collectables that when you get all the pieces they form a town and the Town Hall is called Jubilee Hall anyway long story short her parents get arrested because they were part of "the Flobie 5" and spend Christmas in jail so she gets sent to her Grandparents but doesn't make it because of the worst storm in 50 years so she gets stuck at a Waffle House and a kind guy called Stuart takes her to his out of the cold, she breaks up with her boyfriend, Noah who is a first class noob and goes out with Stuart who is lovely and kind. The second story is called A Cheertastic Christmas Miracle which links back to the first story because on the train that got stranded in the storm with Jubilee on there were a group of cheerleaders on the train that also take refuge in the Waffle House and the cheerleaders want to play Twister but there is only room for one more group of people in the Waffle House so the acting assistant manager rings his friends up to bring Twister but they are in competition with 2 other groups of people and have to battle to the Waffle House. Finally the third story is called The Patron Saint Of Pigs which is about a girl who is hung up on her relationship with her boyfriend ending and she always talks about herself even her friends say she can be self centred and how much she doesn't do things for anyone else only for her own benefit. The girl has a friend who has an obsession with pigs and her parents wouldn't let her buy one because it would grow to be much bigger and heavier than her but then she discovers a species called a teacup pig and yes they do actually fit into a teacup! ^.^
Look how adorable they are awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!
Anyway the teacup pig get delivered to the pet shop which is near the Starbucks where the girl works so she picks it up for her friend but when she goes to get it its not there so she goes on a hunt to find it and finds that it was just a challenge to see if she would give up or not and at the end everyone from all the stories ends up in this Starbucks and its all happy and cute. Seen as it is a Wintery tale though I would only recommend reading it at Christmas time but I enjoyed it very much.

Dumb and Dumber 2 review

Today I went to go see Dumb and Dumber 2 and ohmydays I hadn't laughed like I did today in awhile I think it could possibly be even funnier than the first one I know there were definitely more gross jokes in it for example when the duo manage to sneak into the Ken Convention Lloyd asks the bartender how much drinks are and the pair not knowing what gratis mean decide to mix the dregs from other peoples drinks together and put their hands down their rear end knowing it smells and tells the woman to get them a new drink by making her smell their drinks but putting their hands over the top so they think its the drink that stinks. I liked how at the end of the film during the credits they played clips from the first one as well as this one and of course Carrey said his trademark line "I like it a lot" and there is a return of the famous van. In the film Lloyd plays a prank on Harry for 20 years pretending to be a mute and is in a nursing home so as pay back Harry pretends he needs a kidney transplant and Lloyd believes him so ends up getting his kidney cut out illegally in the back of a car in Mexico to give to Harry but it turns out in the cooler he is carrying what he thinks is his kidney is actually a lamb chop. My favourite scene is probably when they play what they think is a harmless joke on the guy they are travelling with but the prank involves setting off what they think is 'only a few fireworks' in his room but the room ends up setting on fire, the guy runs out the room and through the balcony and lands in the swimming pool and Harry and Lloyd find it hilarious and also the blind kid with the birds makes a return aha! Definitely would recommend this if you don't mind the gross jokes and enjoyed the first one I can't even rate it its so good, made my day aha.

Just a little list of my winter faves:
1)My official fourth Doctor scarf
2)Hot chocolates especially the brownie one and black forest one from costa with marshmallows and cream definitely worth £3.05 heaven in a cup!
3)My cute panda hat with pom-pom ears which is adorable plus I love pandas so win win any hat will do obviously but mine is better mwahaha
4)Also my matching panda mittens and panda hoodie ;P
5)I recently purchased Let It Snow by John Green, Maureen Johnson and Lauren Myracle which is 3 stories intertwined and its wintery so it helps get you into the Christmas spirit
6)Duvet days
7)Getting to sing Fairytale Of New York (arguably the best Christmas song ever) at every given opportunity because its December and I genuinely believe its bad luck to sing Christmas songs when its not December so I have to make the most of it and sing it every day until December 25th

9)The heating being on when I get home from college, pure bliss!
10)The coke bottles with the names of the reindeer's on

Barry M Nail Art Pen Ideas

I recently purchased the pink nail art pen by Barry M as I nearly always have my nails painted because I weirdly feel kinda' naked without painted nails I don't know why but anyway I just want to share some cool ideas if you use nail art pens to make your nails look even prettier:
Basic hearts (like the ones shown in this pic)
Zig Zags
Spirals
Crosses
Checkers
Bows
Stars
Letters
Smiley faces
Polka dots

Now for the more artsy ones:
Leopard print
Aztec print
Day of the dead type skulls

S'all I can think of at the moment but have fun getting creative

Paddington review

I would like to start with apologising for not blogging in awhile inspiration has been running low lately but I'll try to blog a few more things before the new year :)

Today I went to go see Paddington with my friend now I know what you're thinking I must be the most immature 17 year old (18 in 1 month) in the world but I like to think Paddington has a little bit of British culture (after all he is named after Paddington Station in London) and who doesn't like a little cute bear who loves marmalade and wears a cute blue duffel coat.

I highly recommend seeing Paddington it stars Hugh Bonneville, Nicole Kidman, Peter Capaldi, Matt Lucas and Julie Walters and is heart warming fun for everyone and Capaldi is rather quite hilarious in it as he tries to win the affections of Kidman in humorous ways for example when he gives her withered flowers that he found tied to a lamp post and simply says "waste not want not". If you don't know about Paddington he is an orphan bear who lives with his Aunt Lucy and Uncle Pastuzo in darkest Peru, an explorer goes out to Peru and meets Aunt Lucy and Uncle Pastuzo and teaches the bears about London and gives them a taste of marmalade which the bears find out they love when the explorer leaves he gives Uncle Pastuzo his red hat which is passed down to Paddington and becomes his trademark look.

There is quite a gross bit in the film where the Brown family have taken him into their home and Mrs.Brown asks him if he wants to freshen up so he goes to the bathroom and thinks the toothbrushes are for his ears and then he licks his ear wax which made me cringe but it leads to hilarious consequences where he ends up getting his head stuck in the toilet and flooding the whole bathroom to the point where he is floating around in the bathroom just after Mr. Brown has phoned his house insurance company asking if the policy protects against damages done by bears.

However I do find the fact that nobody in the film bats an eyelid at a talking bear walking around on two legs in London. When Paddington arrives at the train station and the Brown family walk past him the father just says to his family "stranger danger just a bear probably trying to sell something" like its the norm, I do recommend this film 5 out of 5 though as its adorable and hilarious.

Get yourself down to Costa for their festive range

I was so happy last week when I found Costa had put their festive food and drinks menu up I had a Brownie hot chocolate and a gingerbread snowman that come with a tube of icing and pack of smarties so you can decorate it yourself I was rather pleased with the end result I think it looked cute if I added a scar to it though it would have probably looked like Harry Potter aha. The brownie hot chocolate is so nice especially with the little brownie pieces that sink to the bottom (saving the best till last) they also do other seasonal hot chocolates like black forest gateau which I will have to try on my next visit which just happens to be tomorrow Wednesday is Costa Wednesdays :3. So if you fancy what they have to offer get yourself down to your closest Costa's :)

Blog on depression, self harm etc

I haven't blogged for a couple of weeks because I've been feeling pretty crappy I've been tired all the time and just haven't been interested in doing much apart from being a potato today I got asked what I wanted for Christmas and I wanted to reply with "my dad back" but I didn't want to make my friend feel awkward so I just said nothing. On average 1 in 4 people will experience some kind of mental health problem in the course of a year and 1 in 10 adults will suffer from depression at some point in their life. People need to learn that you can't just "snap out" of depression and it is a real mental illness and being depressed isn't when you just feel down for a day or so it is being in a state of basically feeling shit persistently for weeks, months maybe even years. I'm writing this blog just to give some advice on some helpful websites and to offer friendship to whoever may need it. Anyone who lives in or around Leeds can go to The Market Place who offer help on just about anything to 13-25 year old's http://www.themarketplaceleeds.org.uk/ you can drop in whenever its open or you can book an appointment. The NHS site offers brilliant advice on low moods, depression, stress, anxiety and just about anything http://www.nhs.uk/conditions/stress-anxiety-depression/pages/low-mood-and-depression.aspx and another helpful site is ChildLine http://www.childline.org.uk/Pages/Home.aspx which I have used many times in the past the counsellors on the one to one chat are really helpful and try their best to understand the situation and I personally always feel a little bit better after talking to them. If you talk to them through the sites one to one chat you don't even have to type you can choose an emoticon to represent how you're feeling and they'll understand or you can draw a picture or choose words from a word bank to show how you're feeling and of course you can call them or e-mail them too and everything is strictly confidential. Seeking help if you think your problem is getting worse should be nothing to worry about as there are a lot of resources that are free to young people and they are there to be used. Self harm is also linked to depression and there are many sites to help with that too self harm does not mean you are weak and there can be many reasons for doing it. I too have self harmed and if you feel the need you have to do it please make sure you clean the cuts and look after yourself I would just like to let everyone who reads this know they are beautiful and very very fabulous

Why I think Jim Carrey is a great actor and doing my coursework on him

I think the first Jim Carrey film I saw was Dumb and Dumber it made me laugh for ages and he brings out everyone's inner child. I think the reason I find him so funny is because I kind of have an uncle that looks like him and acts like him so Jim Carrey reminds me of that aha. His audience are literally used to him talking out of his ass (as he does in Ace Ventura) and if they see any different box office statistics tend to be lower. That's why my question for coursework is "Comparing Jim Carrey in his serious roles and comedic roles" films such as The Cable Guy and The Truman Show are not what his audience are used to and stupidly the producers estimated the popularity of these films way too high because both were quite a flop at the box office and some people just stubbornly believe that he is incapable of serious roles. I, however do not think this is true because I recently discovered Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind which I am using as one of my supporting films. Carrey is an actor who for some ungodly reason still hasn't won an Oscar and I tell you Eternal Sunshine should have won him in an Oscar. It is such a beautiful film that explores the metaphor of our memories making us who we are. The story follows Joel (Jim Carrey) and Clementine (Kate Winslet) who are dating but then Clementine decides to undergo this procedure that allows her to forget everything about Joel (this is the sci-fi aspect to the film). When Joel finds out that she has done this he angrily wants to do the same thing but when the process is happening and the machine is going through all his memories with her Joel doesn't want to let her go and he keeps losing memories so they run away to other memories without them two in but eventually all memories are erased... until they meet again by coincidence when Joel decides to skip work and take a train somewhere. The film is also based on a poem by the same title by Alexander Pope and that is why I think it is lovely. Other hilarious films of Jim Carrey include Me, Myself and Irene (I'm ashamed to admit this but the funniest scene in that film I think is when he is repeatedly shooting the cow on the road and at the end we find out its still alive aha) Bruce Almighty is quite good too as well as Liar Liar. I hope he keeps making generations laugh and I am definitely looking forward to Dumb and Dumber 2.

In The Forest Of The Night- Doctor Who

Doctor Who
In The Forest Of The Night
Episode 10/12
25/10/14

Before I give my review I would like to apologise for not posting in a few days its been a bit hectic. (By the way if there is anything anyone would want me to do a post on don't be afraid to let me know!) :)

Out of all of Series 8 so far this has probably been the one I disliked the most as I don't really like episodes that are full of kids as I find it cheesy, although there was one girl in the show, Ruby, who caught my attention I thought she was fabulous. *Spoilers alert* if you haven't watched it yet the story is about a forest that literally grows world wide over night. I think the trailer for this episode was quite misleading because admittedly I thought it was going to be a spin on Little Red Riding Hood as in the trailer all it really showed was a little girl in a red coat running from a wolf. Anyway the main protagonist is a little girl called Maebve who wanders away from Mr. Pink's group and she finds the Doctor but then she wanders away from The Doctor because her sister went missing last year and she hears voices in her head which are controlled by medication. Throughout the whole duration of Maebve running away it looks as if she is flicking away flies or something and Mr. Pink mistakes this for a nervous tick it turns out that they are voices and when The Doctor points his sonic screwdriver at them he can see them. Going back a bit as I've skipped an important part out, earlier on The Doctor finds the children's homework books in the T.A.R.D.I.S and Maebve drew a picture of the sun but with solar flares coming out of it and therefore leading to the end of the world (which is just normal every day in Doctor Who) so when everyone thinks the world is going to end The Doctor realises that this kind of thing has happened before all the way back in 1908 and some time after that too but the human race had forgotten about it. Anyway long story short when the solar flares come to destroy the earth the excess oxygen from the trees protects the earth and everyone survives, yaaay! overall though I would only rate this episode about a 6/10 because it wasn't that interesting, I don't like children based episodes and the trailer was misleading. I do however look forward to next weeks as it looks very action packed.

Eulogy for my dad

So my dad passed away on the 11th October the funeral is on Friday... this man was the most precious thing in my life and I miss him so much. I'm not good with words but this is my attempt at my eulogy for him (just hope I have the balls to read it out) and I thought I'd share it with you lovelies, any comments (nice ones) would be greatly appreciated.

To the greatest dad who ever lived I miss you more every day but I know you're still with me just in a different way. You taught me how to ride a bike and swim, I
remember sitting in the kitchen with you on Saturday evenings and you'd make me a hot chocolate even though you weren't the greatest at it because somehow you'd make
a skin form on top but I didn't mind whilst in the kitchen we'd listen to your music I always thought your taste in music was the worst but you spent hours and whole
weekends trying to convert me and it finally worked a bit when I was about 15 your hot chocolates may not have been great but you knew how to make a good fish finger
sandwich. I remember when we used to go on fields and play football but I'd never be able to score a goal because you'd make me laugh too much and one of the goal
keepers Kasper Schmeichel name would always make me laugh too you weren't too bad at football, old man. Everyone could always tell I'm your daughter because we had
the same sense of humour and we could laugh for ages over something that in reality wasn't even that funny you used to do a funny voice of someone you used to know
and I always thought it was the most hilarious impression ever. I remember in Year 9 because at the time in Science I was doing something about dinosaurs and you
convinced me that there was a dinosaur that went extinct because it bored it self to death and I asked my teacher about it and when I came home and told you about it
you were in absolute stitches I still hold you to that. I remember when we watched a documentary about Big-foot and there was a bit where quite evidently the so called
Big-foot was just a hairy man and he was walking through the woods and you said "its Big-foot walking home from the pub" I have no idea why I found that so funny but I
did. You was the one who introduced me to Doctor Who and at first I thought it was the worst idea for a show ever but now I love it and I love you for it too. You
were such a kind man with a big heart and a contagious laugh and in the words of The Clash go easy...step lightly...stay free.

Reasons A-Level Media is the bane of my existence

The Many Reasons Media is the bane of my existence and as a result destroys me emotionally.

Firstly lets backtrack all the way to Year 11 when I was applying for colleges and the subjects I wanted to do. A naive 15/16 year old Amy thought taking Media as one of my A Levels would be a walk in the park because in all fairness I'm not the most academic person but by no means does that mean I appreciate name calling and having my subjects slated because "Miss I do all the science and maths subjects" thinks what I do aren't "real" subjects but when I ask her definition of a "real" subject she fails to give one. Although not being the most academic of people at GCSE I passed 9 out of 11 exams and 3 of them I achieved a B at which I am quite proud of (I failed Maths because I have Dyscalculia) and I got C's in all my AS's. Anyway onto the topic of Media, at the open days I went to the media department offered me things I hadn't yet experienced as I could see myself really enjoying the subject and getting involved because it involved case studies like Doctor Who which I got told we would be doing in the first year but turns out we're not doing it until Christmas and if I had of known I would have probably left college now. The coursework also seemed really interesting as I was really looking forward to making our own music video but when we actually got to do the coursework it was me who had to do be in the music video because everyone else refused. The song we did was "Walk Of Shame" by P!nk and now I can never listen to that song again as we overplayed it far too many times and every time I think of the song all I can think of is a scene in the music video where I'm stood beside a phone box and a poster of a burger from Burger King is on the window and my friend told me to pretend to take a bite out of it *shudders at the thought of remembering that* as if I wasn't body concious enough doing that made me feel even fatter. The first couple of weeks at sixth form were great and I did initially enjoy media because the teacher seemed really nice but then after October half term I don't know what happened she just turned into some kind of Devil that would hate you forever if you got a question wrong and would judge you for it. Not forgetting the time when she threatened to shred our coursework because she thinks we're all retards. I just don't know how to describe my media teacher she's just very narcissistic and patronising and last week was literally the happiest week of my life as she was off because she's been recovering from the flu so media was cancelled every day. Today however she freaked me out by reading out a piece of my work because she thought it was exemplary (and she never thinks any of my work is to her standard) and she was overly nice to me and called me 'love' it might just be me who thinks that's weird but oh well.

Who I am, what I'm about and other general things you might need to know :)

So, haii ladies and gentlemen (or possible aliens) :3 I'm Amy but my fellow Doctor Who nerds call me Amy Pond or Amelia or you can just call me whatever floats your boat! I get called this because I'm ginger and the actress who played Amy Pond is also ginger. If you don't know who Karen Gillan is I shall enlighten you with some of her photos and you will fall in love with her.

I am also in love with David Tennant and as you are probably bored of my fangirling now I will only put up one photo of him and then I'll move on.
I'm 17 my birthday is the 29th January ( date for your calender there) ;) to be honest I've only set up this blog because I spend too much time being bored out of my head but hey ho. I don't expect many people to read my blog because I'm not even that interesting but I promise I'll try to put some relatively cool stuff up on here and seen as my surname is McCool sometimes it can be hard living up to a name that fabulous so please bare with me ;P. I intend on putting a variety of stuff on here so there will be some reviews, some posts will be like diary entries, there will probably be some rants but I will also try to give some advice and stuff if needed  so at the end I'll give some links to other sites I'm on if you ever want to check them out :). At the moment I am going through a tough time which I will discuss in a post at a later point so I like to think no problem will be too big for me to help with or even if you just want someone to listen to that's cool too. Even if only one person reads my posts and likes them I will be chuffed to bits and I will feel accomplished but anyone lovelies I think I've talked for a while now so I'm going to love you and leave

Doctor Who- Flatline Review

Doctor Who- Flatline
Episode 9/12
18/10/14
I think this is one of best episodes in the series so far I haven't enjoyed as many as much as I thought I would and believe me when I say that was hard for me to type as I am known for being a hardcore Whovian. If you watch the show but missed it last night *SPOILERS* warning. The storyline followed a species of monster that were two dimensional and got their prey by living in the walls and making anyone who touched the walls completely flat. The T.A.R.D.I.S's dimensions get muddles up and it shrinks to the point where The Doctor is trapped inside so Clara has to take the role of The Doctor through the use of an ear piece that allows the real Doctor to hack into Clara's optic nerve so he can see everything she see's and can talk to her. Although because of Clara being The Doctor (she calls herself Doctor Oswald) it meant another episode that kind of only focused on her again and normally this would annoy me but there was something about this episode that made me take a bit more of a liking to her (I'm still grieving the loss of Amy and Rory). My favourite part of the episode is a scene where Clara makes reference to Thing from The Addams
Family and tells The Doctor to move the T.A.R.D.I.S off the train tracks with his hand. Overall I would rate this episode a 9/10 simply because I liked the idea and I always enjoy seeing new monsters.
